Our Office and Operating Suite

Madison Plastic Surgery is ideally located in the residential area of the renowned upper Eastside of Manhattan, just one block east of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The building is a historical brownstone completely renovated to accommodate our office which occupies the first two floors. The reception area is comfortable and spacious by Manhattan standards. The doctors' consultation and examination rooms are comfortable and relaxed.

The operating suite is fully accredited by the AAAAPSF (American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities). It is fully equipped with the latest safety and monitoring equipment as defined by OSHA standards. The operating room in our facility is identical in both equipment and safety standards, to the operating rooms in any large metropolitan medical center. We use only Board Certified Anesthesiologists to administer anesthesia with our state of the art anesthetic equipment. We are also equipped with the latest ultrasonic liposuction and laser resurfacing machines.

Our Outpatient Surgical Unit

If you decide to allow Madison Plastic Surgery to provide your care, it is extremely likely that your surgery would be performed in our fully certified out patient surgery facility known as Madison Care. This facility is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Plastic Surgery Facilities (AAAAPSF). The facility was designed and built to provide the best possible location for surgery and patient care. AAAAPSF accredited plastic surgery facilities are rigorously inspected and evaluated. A set of strict standards must be met which assure the patient of a commitment to safety and efficiency of the facility and equipment. The accredited facility must be in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal codes for fire safety, sanitation and building for the protection of the patient and the medical personnel. The facility must also adhere to federal laws and regulations affecting its operation such as OSHA blood borne pathogen standards, hazardous waste standards and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The AAAAPSF was established in 1980 as a model accreditation program to provide assurance to the patient of excellent surgical care. Since then, this facility accreditation process has been endorsed by 90% of the nation's health insurance carriers and by a number of state health agencies. It has been cited repeatedly as a model program for others to follow.

In order for a facility to be accredited by AAAAPSF, only Plastic Surgeons who are eligible to perform plastic surgery procedures in an accredited hospital are allowed to obtain privileges. Such surgeons must also be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and comply with the code of ethics of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Certified personnel, including registered nurses and certified anesthesiologists and properly trained personnel are only permitted to work in these facilities. Together the staff members comprise a team that operate the facility smoothly and efficiently before, during and after your surgery.

This facility was designed especially for plastic surgery utilizing a state of the art design. As a result, other departments required in a hospital center, such as pathology, radiology, administrative offices and large reception or waiting areas are unnecessary. The resultant cost savings are passed along to you the patient. At the same time, a AAAAPSF accredited ambulatory plastic surgery facility does meet and often exceeds the same standards for patient care as those required in a hospital out patient surgery unit. Plastic surgery procedures require the most advanced instruments and monitoring devices. In a AAAAPSF accredited facility, procedures are performed in our ultramodern operating suite with all the equipment necessary to ensure the safest possible operating conditions.

Recent studies have shown that costs to the patient of a single specialty facility such as an accredited plastic surgery facility, are only one third to one half those charged by a hospital for the same procedure. Because the patient is not hospitalized there are additional significant savings over hospital inpatient care.
