Plastic Surgery - Transforming From the Outside-In

It used to be that any celebrity who got a breast augmentation or any other plastic surgery work done was scrutinized for their decision.

With all the reality shows about beauty makeovers and the compelling stories they tell of how plastic surgery can transform not only the exterior, but their interior of a person as well, it's no wonder people are more open to the idea of plastic surgery. It's amazing to see the kind of impact a change on the outside of a person can have to their inside; their confidence and overall psychological well being - or simply, just being a happier person.

Take this article for example:

Kelly Rowland - Breast Augmentation

Kelly Rowland, didn't get a breast augmentation that was overboard or obvious, she just wanted something to balance out her physique - and not some expectation of what the public deems as a staple beauty. She did it for herself.

What do you think? Post your thoughts in the forums or if you're looking to pique your curiosity, visit Breast Implants USA today and you just might find the perfect doctor to provide that little enhancement you've been looking for.

Where are Breast Implants Surgeries Most Popular?

While breast augmentation, liposuction and rhinoplasty top the list of the country's most popular cosmetic surgical procedures, statistics show that the popularity of these procedures as well as other procedures vary from region to region.

Experts actually suggest that it's the weather that influences why individuals choose a particular procedure based on their geographical location. For example, in states such as California and Arizona, where it is warm and sunny year-round, people tend to wear less clothing and are thus more body-conscious. This would explain why the Mountain Pacific states lead the country in a number of body-oriented surgical procedures like breast augmentation, abdominoplasty and liposuction. In states with more variable climates, like New Jersey and Pennsylvania, people may be more face-conscious and opt for facial plastic surgery.

Plastic Surgery: Usher's Wife Suffered Cardiac Arrest in Brazil

Underscoring the importance of trusting your health to US plastic surgeons certified by the ABPS, a harrowing story appeared in the news this week.

Usher's wife, Tameka Foster-Raymond, was hospitalized last week in Sao Paulo, Brazil after suffering a cardiac arrest shortly before undergoing liposuction surgery. This occurred while she was being anesthetized for the procedure. Fortunately, Foster was revived in less than a minute using heart massage. The plastic surgeon performing the procedure decided not proceed with the surgery.

Breast Implants USA understands the importance of patient safety before, during and after plastic surgery. We only list surgeons certified by the ABPS (American Board of Plastic Surgery). These surgeons have gone through rigorous, extensive training and have a solid background in plastic surgery to perform safe and successful surgeries.

"Patient safety is our number one concern, and our surgeons believe in patient education. Any surgery is a serious matter requiring informed decisions, and our aim at Breast Implants USA is to make it possible for patients to get the most up-to-date information from surgeons in the top of their field." said David Phillips, President and CEO of NKP Medical Marketing, parent company of BreastImplantsUSA.com

What You Should Know About the Safety of Plastic Surgery

When considering plastic surgery, it's natural to focus more on the expected result than on the surgical process. However, to be fully informed, it's important to learn about the safety of the procedure as well as the expected outcome. Although thousands of people have plastic surgery every year without complications, no surgical procedure is risk-free. To maximize safety, ensure that:
  • Your surgeon is adequately trained and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery; Any MD, can perform plastic surgery, however a doctor who is ABPS Board certified has 6 years of surgical training, specialized training in plastic surgery and is required to continuously update their knowledge and skills.
  • The facility where your surgery will be performed conforms to strict safety standards established by the Joint Commission of Hospital Organizations. Hospitals take up to a year preparing to pass this strict, on site inspection, geared to ensure patient safety.
  • Your surgeon is informed of any drugs you are taking and your full medical history, especially if you have had any circulation disorders, heart or lung ailments or problems with blood clots;
  • The surgical facility will use skilled, licensed personnel to administer and monitor your anesthesia and your recovery immediately following the procedure;
  • Extra safety measures are taken if you are having a more extensive procedure. Consult with your Surgeon if you have any concerns.

A common mistake in choosing a plastic surgeon

It is important to note that prices are different at every single breast surgeon's location. Our recommendation is to not make a decision in choosing a breast surgeon based on price. You decision should be based solely on if that breast surgeon can meet your specific needs. However, keep your eyes open as well. It is common to find that 10 plastic surgeons are within 5% of each other's price, and there is that one plastic surgeon who charges half of everyone else's price. Be cautious, as that is usually a quick red flag. In no way does that mean paying less will give you worse results, it only means that your decision should never solely be based on price.

Why choose a plastic surgeon who is Board Certified versus one who is not?

In order for a plastic surgeon to become board certified, they have to go through a long, demanding process. It is not something that can be purchased. It is not a 6-month long process; it is a process that takes years. That is why there are so many more plastic surgeons that are not board certified. Plastic Surgeon's willing to invest that amount of time, studying and studying more, and on top of that passing the tests, and then following the comprehensive rules set forward, in our opinion, deserve the respect that brings.
