Implications of Breast Augmentation
There are many complications that may arise from breast implant surgery. Today we will touch on some of the primary complications that may arise as a result of such surgery. For those looking to have a baby during or after the surgery, breast feeding may be impaired as the implant may be
There is a risk that breast implants may impede breast cancer detection. During mammography, X-ray, or ultrasound the implants could hide suspicious tumors or lesions. Treatment providers must take special care of breast-implant patients during breast exams.
Another issue that may arise after implants come from the loss of sensation that may arise in the breast. After breast augmentation, some implant patients experience loss of sensation in the nipple and breast area. Loss of sensation results from damage to nerve endings in the breast and nipple. The loss of sensation is often temporary, but it can be permanent.

Texas Woman Claims Breast Cancer to Pay For Breast Implants
Here's an interesting story for those keeping up with breast augmentation news around the country. Waco Texas has seen a bit of fraud lately in relation to breast augmentation, as a woman recently falsified her need for breast implants in order to raise money. The unbelievable story is stranger than fiction.
Recently a woman has been charged with stealing money that was originally supposed to go to her breast cancer fund. Trista Joy Lathern, 24, took thousands of dollars from individuals who thought they were giving to a charitable fund.
But wait, there's more. Lathern never had breast cancer in the first place. Still, she allegedly played the hoax to the max. The McLennan County Sheriff's Office says Lathern even shaved her head, and then held a fundraiser for herself that was attended by dozens of friends and neighbors, and raised over $10,000 for the treatment. Arrested on Wednesday, Lathern was charged with "theft by deception over $1,500, but under $20,000."

Understanding The Initial Consultation
Today we will be discussing some of the things you can expect to go through during your initial consultation with your doctor. As afore mentioned, it is of the utmost importance for patients to have a comfortable and trusting relationship with their doctor before going into surgery. This will provide a piece of mind to patients and will ease the overall experience well.
For many, breast augmentation is a very personal decision and the initial consultation is the most effective way for you to know if it is right for you. It is helpful for you to bring in a list of questions and concerns that can be specifically addressed. You and your breast surgeon will discuss your goals and how realistic they are. It is a very good idea to bring in before and after photos of other women with your desired results. This can give your breast surgeon a very good idea of the results you are looking for. This is also the time to discuss your preferred incision type, the type of breast implants used and both your short term and long term goals. If you are not 100% confident in the breast surgeon you should consult with another. It is probably one of the most personal decisions you will make, so you not only need to be confident it is the right thing for you, but also be confident that the breast surgeon can meet your goals.
