"Medical Tourism" Targeting Prospective American Plastic Surgery Patients.
You may or may not have heard of the term, "Medical Tourism." It's the practice of overseas plastic surgeons and clinics offering travel packages with their plastic surgery procedures. Discount plastic surgery. It sounds as scary as it is.Plastic surgery procedures cost fractions less of what they would here in the United States. In addition to the reduced price, many of these medical tourist packages also offer travel accommodations including tours and exotic safaris.
But at what cost?
Sure the price of a face lift here in the States may equal that of a face lift in South Africa with a two week stay in a hotel and an African safari, but who's to guarantee that the cost is worth the risk? Plastic surgery is real surgery. Price is obviously important to you; however, to risk your life to save a couple hundred dollars is simply not worth the risk.
The follow up is another issue. A doctor being in a different country poses all kinds of logistical problems if follow up is needed. Not having follow up for even just a basic check up could be considered poor patient care and very risky to your long term health.
With Board Certification here in the United States you can be assured that the doctors certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery have gone through rigorous training, verbal and written testing in order to be a part of the elite. It's bad enough that there are deaths, botched procedures and malpractice suits with uncertified plastic surgeons here in the United States, but to take it to another country where health and safety standards can be much lower than that of the United States is dangerous.
It is your body that is under the surgical knife. You shouldn't have to bargain with it.
Board Certification in the United States is established for a reason; for your safety. Breast Implants USA takes great care to make sure ALL of our doctors are Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Do not bargain with your life.
